The last bandstand in the Abbey Gardens was near where the model of the old  Abbey is now and was demolished more than 50 years ago.  Many people regret the loss of the bandstand and would like to see a new one erected.

After discussions with the Bury Society, English Heritage, Suffolk County Council Archaeology Department and St Edmundsbury Borough Council Parks Manager, we are confident that future plans for the Abbey Gardens will include support for a Bandstand, provided the decision makers are convinced this is what residents want.

The photographs above show the Cloister Garden as it is now and our suggested Victorian style bandstand, positioned approximately four metres in from the existing asphalt access path.
